A chawan (茶碗; literally "tea bowl") is a bowl used for preparing and drinking tea. The chawanmushi (茶碗蒸し) bowl, with its rounded design, is ideal for easily enjoying chawanmushi (Chawanmushi is an egg custard dish in Japanese cuisine, usually eaten as a dish in a meal with savory rather than sweet ingredients). It's also suitable for serving small soups and broths.
